Edward C. Wolf

Edward “Ed” Wolf of Cedarburg went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, at the earthly age of 93.

Ed was a loving, devoted and faithful husband of Ruth (nee Stelter) for more than 65 years. He was the proud, caring and helpful father of Marty (Vicki) Wolf and Steve (Alison) Wolf.

He was also the loving and encouraging gramps of Joshua (Octavia) Wolf, Janna (Andy) Egelhoff, Ian Wolf, Dan (Rachel) Wolf, Caleb (Kelsee) Wolf, Kara Wolf, Aaron (Neve) Wolf, Noelle Wolf and Sam Wolf.

Ed is also survived by his loving sisters-in-law Sandy (the late Bob) Stelter, Joan (the late Mel) Gamble, many wonderful nieces and nephews and numerous friends spanning multiple generations.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Lilian Wolf; his brother Bob Wolf; brothers-in-law Ron Stelter, Mel Gamble and Bob Stelter; sisters-in-law Wanda Stelter and Caryl Wolf; and his grandson Ian Wolf.

Ed grew up in Mequon, where he met Ruth in the fifth grade. He graduated from Cedarburg High School and served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

After his discharge, Ed ran a paint store with his brother in Iowa, where he began a long-distance courtship with Ruth, who had moved to Eau Claire. They were married in 1954. Ed and Ruth moved to Cedarburg in 1960 and started a construction business which their sons continue to operate to this day.

Ed and Ruth, along with several other families, founded Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cedarburg, where they are still members. Ed served on the Board of Regents of Wisconsin Lutheran College, during which time he oversaw the building of their library. Ed was a visionary, seeing many trends coming before they arrived. He retired in 1992 and spent the next 20 years helping many people, especially his sons with “projects.” His trust in God, thoughtfulness and resilience were an inspiration to all who knew him.

A memorial service giving thanks to God for Ed’s life and Jesus’ saving work will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 4 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, W76 N627 Wauwatosa Rd. in Cedarburg.

A time to greet relatives and friends will precede the service from 2 to 4 p.m., with a reception immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Redeemer Lutheran Church are appreciated.

Mueller Funeral Home and Crematory in Cedarburg is assisting the family.
