A color for the lake's every mood

Port Washington’s harbor got a colorful accent recently when the vertical concrete panels on the breakwater were painted varying shades of blue to reflect the changing colors of Lake Michigan, and the reaction has been nothing but positive. The painting project was spearheaded by Port yacht designer Bill Prince (front), who raised the money for the project and cut a ribbon to formally recognize the finished product on Friday, July 24. Prince thanked Cathy Bretl and Ray Drea who helped him select the colors and place them in the proper order. Attending the ribbon cutting were Mayor Marty Becker and a group of donors, including Justin Behm, Scott and Stina Bretl, Tom Didier, Russ and Dorothy Chapin, Scott Nelson, Dan and Wendy Laurence, Josh and Lacey Leute, Tracy Modjeski, Chuck and Darlene Motl, Charlie and Julie Pfrang, James Schowalter and Angel and Rosa Tello. The paint job was done by Elegant Estates of Port Washington.            Photos by Sam Arendt and Bill Schanen IV
