Christine Leggitt

Christine Rose Kontny Leggitt, age 44, of Fredonia, Wis., died unexpectedly Aug. 24, 2020, in Waubeka, Wis.

She was born May 9, 1976, in Green Bay, Wis., to Richard and Joan Pasterski Kontny.

The family moved to Fredonia, Wis., in 1978, where she attended local schools. After high school, she moved to Manassas, Va. She attended East Coast Polytechnic Institute to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN) and was second in her class. In 2012, she returned to the Fredonia area and worked as a LPN at various health care facilities.

Christine was a soup-maker extraordinaire and made the most amazing chicken dumpling soup of all time. She enjoyed quilting, crafting and the outdoors, especially canoeing or sitting around a fire.  Often referred to as the “fun aunt” at family functions, she was a social person who enjoyed family and friends.  Christine loved her daughters and will be remembered by her smile, which could light up the room.

She is survived by her daughters Taylor Rae Anderson of Wisconsin and Emma Lynn Rinker of Virginia; and her siblings Richard T. (Leta) Kontny, Jr. of Virginia, Thomas H. Kontny of Sheboygan, Wis., David C. (Denise) Kontny of Virginia, Danny W. Kontny of Mequon, Wis., Kenneth W. (Marcie) Kontny of Random Lake, Wis., and Catherine G. (William) Hamm of Fredonia, Wis.

She is further survived by special friend Ryan Mueller of Waubeka, Wis.; and his children Reagen, Ryan Jr. and Stella; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Joan Kontny; brother Harold J. Kontny; and sister Linda L. Fetterly.

Private family services have been held.  A public celebration of Christine’s life is being planned for a later date.
