Chamber seeking contributions to Zip Code Day time capsule

The Grafton Area Chamber of Commerce  and Grafton Historical Society are working to create a time capsule for the community as part of the Zip Code Day celebration on May 30.

Residents are encouraged to bring items that represent life in Grafton for the time capsule to the celebration between 4 and 7 p.m.

Food items will not be accepted and contributions should be no larger than 8 inches and weigh no more than 5 pounds.

Items suitable for donation include photographs capturing memorable moments in Grafton, books reflecting the literary culture of the community, ribbons symbolizing achievements and events, coins representing currency and commerce, artwork showcasing local talent and creativity, essays providing insights into life in Grafton and small clothing items reflecting fashion trends and styles.

“The Zip Code Day celebration provides an excellent opportunity for residents to contribute items that hold personal or cultural significance,” Elizabeth Mueller, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce, said.

The time capsule will be buried at a later date.

The time capsule will be given to the Grafton Historical Society, with plans for it to be opened at the next Zip Code Celebration on 5-30-2124.

For more information about the time capsule project or items to contribute contact Malayna Struckman at (262) 377-1650 or celebrate@-wi.org.
