Cedars II wins Melapalooza

Cedars II won the 11-team wood bat double-elimination softball tournament as part of Mel’s Charities Melapalooza July 20-22 at Centennial Park in Grafton. In the Senior All-Star Game, Ozaukee edged Grafton, 12-10. Clockwise from far left, senior all-star Geoff Peuers of Fredonia took a mighty swing for the Ozaukee team; Rod Wilterdink lets a pitch fly for Grafton during the senior all-star game; Kris Barger of First Bank Financial, one of Mel’s Charities’ sponsors, threw out the first pitch as Ross Rintelman of Mel’s Charities watched; and the teams posed for a picture before the game. The Ozaukee roster included coach Bob Guse and Jeff Dorn, Bill Bishop, Bert Kanaack, Harpo Schroeder, John Krecji, Jack Kramer, Larry Czelatdko, Ron Tobianski, Pauers, Rich Rodriguez,andTerrry Malmorowski. Grafton’s team included coach Rick Port and Dave Armstrong, Brian Bintzler, Dave Kelley, Bob King Kloehn, Ron Kronforst, Dennis Loberger, Scott Maronde, Jim Newton, Bob Sinnen, Addy Silverthorn, Dave Smith and Wilterdink. In the battle of fire departments, Grafton bested Cedarburg, 20-2. Money raised from the tournament will be announced in October with other fundraisers done by Mel’s Charities.
