Candidates for local offices can get to work Dec. 1

Nomination papers for four seats on the Port Washington Common Council, all three seats on the Port Town Board and three seats on the Port Washington-Saukville School Board can be circulated beginning Sunday, Dec. 1.

The seats up for election in the City of Port Washington are the 1st District seat currently held by Ald. Deb Postl, 3rd District seat held by Ald. Mike Gasper, 5th District seat held by Ald. Jonathan Pleitner and 7th District seat held by Ald. John Sigwart.

In the Town of Port, the seats held by Town Chairman Mike Didier and Suprs. Gary Schlenvogt and Greg Welton are up for election.

Both aldermen and town officials serve two-year terms.

Seats held by school board members Brian Stevens and Karen Krainz, who represent the City of Port, and Yvonne Klotz, who holds the board’s at-large seat, are up for election in spring.

Nomination papers must be returned to the respective municipal offices or the School District office by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

If more than two people turn in papers for any one seat, a primary election will be held on Feb. 18. The general election will be held April 1.
