Brooks challenging incumbent for seat on Port council
It looks as if there will be a race for the District 5 seat on the Port Washington Common Council in April.
Incumbent Ald. Jonathan Pleitner and newcomer Robert Brooks have both taken out nomination papers, City Clerk Susan Westerbeke said.
Brooks, who ran unsuccessfully for a seat on the School Board last year, said he’s looking for a way to get involved in local government.
“I bring a lot of knowledge and a little bit of background,” said Brooks, 33.
That’s especially true when it comes to developments, he said, because he is a project manager for Catalyst Construction.
In the other aldermanic seats up for election in April, only the incumbents have taken out nomination papers, Westerbeke said. They are aldermen Deb Postl, 1st District; Mike Gasper, 3rd District; and John Sigwart, 7th District.
Nomination papers are due at City Hall at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3.
