Boehlke to be inducted into 4-H Hall of Fame

Ozaukee County 4-H volunteer and Lindenwood 4-H Leader Carol Boehlke will be inducted into the Wisconsin 4-H Hall of Fame on Saturday, Nov. 5.

The Hall of Fame is intended to recognize volunteers, financial supporters, staff and pioneers who made major contributions to the 4-H movement at the local, state, and national levels.

Boehlke has worked in leadership roles with Ozaukee 4-H for 45 years.

Boehlke is described as exemplifying community service and someone who is a constant fixture at Adopt-a-Highway events, holiday caroling, the Clover Café and playing bingo at nursing homes.

She is lauded for generously giving of her time and talents and is cited as an example of kindness and patience who has a passion for anything 4-H and is looked up to as an example by club members and leaders.

Boehlke has served as a 4-H project leader in ceramics, foods, quilting, sewing, and the exploring project, which introduces new 4-H members to opportunities in the organization, since 1978.

She became a general leader with Lindenwood 4-H Club in 1991.

That same year, she organized a program to foster positive 4-H community through running games and team building activities at the Ozaukee County Fair. Presently, she serves as 4-H building superintendent.

Boehlke volunteers with Ozaukee 4-H’s open house each year and coordinates the New 4-H Family Fair Preview, an event designed to promote participation at the fair.

Since 2008, she has helped design and sew for Ozaukee 4-H’s largest countywide fundraiser, the 4-H Haunt.

She and her husband of 50 years, Roger, raised five children in the 4-H program and still volunteer for 4-H activities.
