Board affirms denial of permit for used car lot on main drag

The Village of Fredonia Board of Appeals on Dec. 15 reaffirmed a Plan Commission denial last month of a request that was made to operate a used car lot on Fredonia Avenue.
Ken Watry had asked the Plan Commission to grant him a conditional use permit for the business on vacant property his family owns.
Last month, he told the Village Board that the lot would primarily sell “classic” cars and that at one time his father displayed agriculture equipment there.
The Plan Commission rejected Watry’s application, saying they didn’t think a used car lot on the village’s main thoroughfare was appropriate.
Watry appealed the decision to the Board of Appeals, which sided with the Plan Commission.
