Backpack giveaway continues through Family Promise

Free backpacks loaded with school supplies are still available for Ozaukee County children who were unable to attend the Back to School Fair giveaway on Thursday, Aug. 20, in Saukville or Mequon.

Backpacks can be obtained by contacting Family Promise of Ozaukee County at 268- 2723.

Backpacks were distributed to about 400 children at Parkside Community United Church of Christ in Saukville and Lumen Christi Catholic Church in Mequon.

The backpacks are filled with age-appropriate school supplies donated by local businesses and organizations.

Sponsors include Bridge the Divide in Cedarburg, Family Promise of Ozaukee County, the Salvation Army, Port Washington State Bank, Kohler Credit Union, Parkside Community UCC, Lumen Christi Catholic Church, United Way of Northern Ozaukee, Saukville Community Food Pantry and St. Vincent DePaul in Port Washington.
