Art center announces winner of ‘Little Show’

    The winner of the Cedarburg Cultural Center’s “Little Show” were announced Dec. 11 as the show opened.
    The Best of Show Award, which included $300 and an invitation for a future solo show at the center, went to Betty Rubner for her oil and cold wax paintings.
     The $200 second place prize went to Patricia Bertha-Mattingly for her oil on linen paintings.
     Third place, which paid $100, went to Clarey Wamhoff for her acrylic paintings.  
     Recognized with honorable mentions were Paula DeStefanis, Pam Eader, Harold Hansen, Christine McGovern, Mary Ellen Mueller and Michael Sturm.
    “The Little Show,” which features 27 Southeastern Wisconsin artists and 135 original works, runs through Sunday, Jan. 19.
    The show includes two-dimensional works that don’t exceed 36 square inches and three-dimensional works that are smaller than 9 inches in any dimension.
    Artists featured in the exhibit are Linda Boehlke, Cherie Burbach, Patrick Doughman, Joyce Eesley, Kristy Goggio, Bruce Hustad, Daniel Ingebrigtson, Jan Jahnke, Terri Lockwood, Meinhard Loppnow, William Millonig, Valerie Pawlak, Deb Rolfs, Barb Rossi, Alice Struck, Kathleen Irons Sweeney, Rhoda Tews, Michelle Savas Thompson and Helen Waldschmidt.
     They were selected by juror Gaylund K. Stone, who is chairman of the art department at Concordia University and program director for the art education graduate program.
    The center at W62 N546 Washington Ave. is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.
