Abba tribute band to give benefit show at new OHS arts center

AbbaFab, an Abba tribute band, will perform Saturday, April 4, at the 577-seat Ozaukee High School Fine Arts Center to benefit the Northern Ozaukee Schools Scholarship Foundation.

The multimedia show will be at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

AbbaFab has performed nationwide and overseas, most recently in California, Arizona, Texas, and Del Ray Beach, Fla.

The group will perform Abba hits such as “Waterloo,” “Fernando,” “Honey Honey” and “Dancing Queen.”

The concert replaces the foundation’s annual silent auction and dinner, the group’s largest fundraiser, which awards scholarships to Ozaukee High School graduates.

The concert “will show off Fredonia’s brand-new Northern Ozaukee Fine Arts Center theater,” said Dave Brouillette, NOSSF vice president and fundraising committee chairman. 

“All proceeds will benefit the educational pursuits of the students in the Northern Ozaukee School District with a significant portion of the proceeds directly benefiting the graduating class of 2020,” Brouillette said. 

“We worked hard to make sure the ticket price was comparable to what you might pay at any other concert of this caliber.

“The fine arts center is beautifully laid out and the seating is luxurious. There truly is not a bad seat in the house.”

The center, which was built in a space that formerly housed the school cafeteria, was paid for as part of a referendum passed in 2018. The theater provides a venue that had not previously existed in Fredonia.

“We have a high number of school based groups that utilize our fine arts center,” district Supt. Dave Karrels said.  

“It is exciting to see the level of interest and excitement for the fine arts center.  Our main priority is to host school-based events in that space, but we also have received interest from outside groups about renting the facility in the future. 

“We are excited to have such a nice facility for our school and community to enjoy.”
