Ray deBruijn was ready to show off.
The Village of Saukville Public Works Supt. gave an update on the new Grady Park pavilion during a Finance Committee meeting last week.
DeBruijn revealed a dark green color scheme and also brought examples of the wood to be used for the deck and laminated beams. A brown-like color will be used on the sides of the storage area that will be near the pavilion.
“The Village of Saukville’s color is like a dark green or a forest green, so we always try to match that with whatever we do,” Village Board President Barb Dickmann said. “We always try to do our trim in a dark green color.
“The wood color of the new pavilion will match the wood color of the pavilion that’s in Quade Park that was donated by the Lions Club.”
When deBruijn and others were at the pavilion figuring out the color and wood, he said they noticed the concession building looked “woefully sad, to put it politely.”
As a result, there will also be new paint for the fencing, bathroom doors and concession openings and doorways to give both buildings some cohesiveness.
“And that’ll make them both look new, too,” Dickmann said.
DeBruijn says he talked to contractors, and plans for the construction of the new pavilion could start as soon as February.
“So it’s moving along at this point,” he said.
Whenever the start day, Dickmann said they are taking reservations for people to use the pavilion this summer.
“I’m excited,” she said. “The board is looking forward to it. It’s a good project. They did a nice job picking it out. We consider that kind of our premier park because it’s right on the highway. It’ll be nice to have it look nice and new, and people will be able to enjoy it more.”
