Festivities mark return of Breakfast With Santa, parade
The spirit of the holiday season will be soaring in Grafton this weekend.
Continuing a celebration that began Nov. 18 with a tree-lighting ceremony will be two popular events Saturday, Nov. 24 — Breakfast With Santa and the 33rd annual Christmas parade.
The breakfast, which is sponsored by Cornerstone Community Bank, will be held from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at Circle B Recreation Center, 6261 Hwy. 60, Cedarburg.
A buffet meal will feature pancakes, sausage links, applesauce, juice, milk and coffee. The meal will be prepared by the Heart of Grafton Family Restaurant and served by the Grafton Lions Club.
Families are invited to bring their cameras to take pictures with Santa and his friends.
The cost of the breakfast is $5.50 for children and $7.50 for adults. Reservations and advance payment are required.
Jolly the Elf and friends will collect letters to Santa during the breakfast and at the Christmas parade, which is sponsored by Columbia St. Mary’s.
“Sounds of the Season” is the theme of this year’s parade, which begins at 11 a.m. and travels through downtown Grafton.
The procession will feature more than 100 units, including marching bands, drill teams, floats, celebrities, costumed characters and other attractions. Among the many highlights will be the award-winning South Shore Drill Team, University of Wisconsin Marching Band, Bucky Badger and Santa on his sleigh.
The parade starts at Sixth Avenue and Washington Street, proceeds east to Wisconsin Avenue and then travels south.
