Applications being taken for remainder of Dohrwardt’s term after she steps down

The Village of Fredonia is seeking applicants to fill the remainder of a trustee term, as Lisa Dohrwardt is stepping down.
Dohrwardt has served since 2012 but is leaving the board because she is moving to the Town of Fredonia, which prevents her from continuing her role as a village trustee.
“It’s been a pleasure to serve on the board and I really enjoy the Village of Fredonia,” Dohrwardt said.
“I’m sad to be moving from the main stream of things but I will still be a chamber of commerce member and part of the Fredonia Area Garden Club. I will also help with the tree lighting.”
During her tenure on the board, Dohrwardt served as chairwoman of the Economic Development Board for her first two terms and was a member of the Tree, Parks and Public Safety boards.
“After helping run Don’s Fredonia Greenhouse for 25 years, I think my business sense and skills were apropos with helping the village,” she said.
Dohrwardt said she isn’t sure if she’ll run for elected office in the Town of Fredonia and wants to focus on her artwork, which involves painting, illustration, sculpture and photography.
“I will see how things shake out once I get there and settled,” she said.
Dohrwardt’s husband Don, is the village president and an Ozaukee County supervisor, and will remain living in the Village of Fredonia.
The village will be accepting trustee applications until the end of October. Application forms are available on the village’s website.
The Village Board meets on the first and third Thursday each month at 7 p.m.
The vacant term runs until April 2018.
“I’ll miss the social contacts that I’ve made over the years in the village,” Dohrwardt said. “I’ve been a village resident since 1991.”
