Jail inmate resuscitated after hanging herself dies PDF Print E-mail

A 42-year-old Port Washington woman who was resuscitated after she tried to hang herself in an Ozaukee County Jail cell last week has died.
 
  The woman had been on life support at an area hospital, but it was discontinued Friday afternoon, according to the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Department.

    She died at 5:19 p.m. Saturday, according to the department.

    An autopsy was performed Monday.

    The woman, who was in jail on misdemeanor disorderly conduct and bail jumping charges, hung herself with a sheet while in a locked cell. Jail staff and emergency responders resuscitated her.

    This was the second suicide in the jail in two weeks.

    On June 16, a 41-year-old woman from Charleston, S.C., hanged and killed herself in a jail cell.
