    Town of Grafton resident Carol E. Jones, 96, died Tuesday, Nov. 7.
    Mrs. Jones was born in Wonewoc on Jan. 18, 1921, the daughter of Harve and Veronica Ratzburg Schroeder.  
    She attended local schools before entering Ms. Brown’s Secretarial School in Milwaukee.  
    Mrs. Jones had a great interest in music and played saxophone in the Wonewoc City Band, where she met Vawn Jones. They were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on March 19, 1944. The couple settled in Port Washington.
     According to her family, faith was an important part of Mrs. Jones’ life. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Washington, a charter member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, former member of the Altar Guild and Ladies Aid, and enjoyed the “Prime Timers” group at church.
    She was an avid reader who enjoyed working puzzles of all kinds as well as sewing, counted cross stitch and needlework. Mrs. Jones was a sharp card player and was partial to playing solitaire on the computer. She developed many computer skills and loved keeping in touch with her family on Facebook.
    Mrs. Jones is survived by her children Cynthia Jones of Grafton, Steve (Kim) of Plymouth, Kristine (Steve) Biechler of Marshfield, and Caroline (John) Weidner of Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren Aaron (Kelly) Jones, Danyel (Andy) Boak, Amanda Larson, Logan Jones, Jason and Stefanie Biechler, and Nicholas, Christopher and Anna Weidner.  
    She is further survived by a great-granddaughter; brother Gerald (Connie) Schroeder of Boise, Idaho; and sister Joyce Thornsen of Wonewoc.
    Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband Vawn and brother-in-law Jim Thornsen.
     Funeral services were held on Sunday, Nov. 12, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Washington. The Rev. John Klieve presided.  Burial was in Wonewoc.
    Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
    Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, handled the arrangements.
