Former Port Washington and Belgium resident Iva J. Hubing died Oct. 22 at Luther Manor at the age of 91.
Hubing was born on March 16, 1926, in Polo, Mo., to William and Ida Mae Stevens Yoho. As a young child, the family moved to Batavia, where Mrs. Hubing grew up and attended local schools.
On Oct. 25, 1947, she married Richard Hubing of Belgium at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake Church. After a few years in Belgium, the family moved to Port Washington in the 1960’s.
In 1980, when her husband retired, the couple moved to Sedona, Ariz., to enjoy the sunshine.
Mr. Hubing preceded his wife in death on Jan. 21, 1991, and after almost 30 years, Mrs. Hubing returned to Wisconsin to be with her family.
She was active in the ladies guild at her church in Sedona for many years.
Mrs. Hubing is survived by her children Eugene (Annmarie) Hubing of Newton, Mass., Kathy (Tim Duax) Hubing of Milwaukee and Holly Hubing-Evans of Minnetonka, Minn; grandchildren Kristin Hubing, Zachary (Chrissie), Aria (John), Liam Duax, Ryan (Becca) and Andy (Tiegan) Evans; two great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Sylvia Yoho of Random Lake.
Mrs. Hubing was preceded in death by her brothers Dean Yoho, and Jerry and his wife Elaine Yoho.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at St. John XXIII Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church, in Port Washington. Father Patrick Wendt will officiate.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lake Church.
Memorials to the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust or Sojourner Family Peace Center in Milwaukee are suggested.
