Beverly Jean Schmitz, born Feb. 19, 1928, in Fond du Lac, peacefully passed into arms of the Lord the morning of Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, at Sarah Chudnow Rehab Center in Mequon.
Bev's family would settle in Port Washington, where she met her future husband Wally Schmitz while working at Modern Equipment Co.
After raising her three boys, Keith (Lana Cramer), Jeff (Susan) and Kim, Bev returned to work as church secretary at St. John's Lutheran Church, and then rejoined Wally at Modern Equipment until they both retired. They moved to Destin, Fla., where Wally would eventually precede her in death. While in Destin, Bev was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Bev was also preceded in death by her mother Laura and father Clarence Loucks and by her younger brother Kenny Loucks.
Along with her sons and daughter-in-laws, Bev is survived by grandchildren Giselle Hale, Elise Cannestra, Jennifer Hannah, Katie Schmitz, Matthew Schmitz, Michael Schmitz, Jeffrey  Schmitz, Theresa Schmitz, Natasha Mazza and Nikki Pintor. Bev also said goodbye to 12 great-grandchildren who were the joy of her life.
The family would like to thank the Laurel Oaks Senior Living Facility for the care provided by the staff and the community of residents during the final year of her life.
The family will greet friends on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 2  to 3 p.m., with a service to follow, at the Feerick Funeral Home, 2025 East Capitol Dr., Shorewood.
Memorials in Bev's name may be made to the American Diabetes Society and American Civil Liberties Union, which assisted Bev in getting her voter ID.
