Walk to End Alzheimer’s to be held Oct. 5 in Port

The third annual Walk to End  Alzheimer’s will be held at Veterans Memorial Park in Port Washington Saturday, Oct. 5.

On-site registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the walk starting at 10 a.m.

The opening ceremony starts at 9:40 a.m. and will be emceed by Carol Caine, a motivational speaker.  

A special Promise Garden tribute during the ceremony will honor everyone whose lives have been touched by Alzheimer’s disease.

Walkers will take a two-mile walk that heads north on the Ozaukee Interurban Trail, then turns south along the bluff through Upper Lake Park before returning to Veterans Park.

The Port Washington High School Dance Team will cheer walkers at the finish line.

Pre and post-walk festivities include complimentary breakfast and lunch snacks, the Sargento mascot “Sarge,” a Zumba warm-up provided by personal trainer Stacey Sabe and an area to take team photos.

The Purple Clubhouse activity area will feature family activities, coloring, face painting, a silly purple selfie station and a caregiver sanctuary tent that will have resources and respite for hardworking caregivers.

The Ozaukee County Walk is chaired by Allyson Olivier, executive director and development officer at the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan Foundation.

Participants can start a team, register as an individual, support another walker and get information online at act.alz.org/ozaukee.
