Village of Fredonia crews will continue to remove leaves from streets until snow plowing gets underway for the winter, Public Works Director Roger Strohm told village trustees last week.

“We have no schedule, but we will still pick up leaves as opportunity presents itself,” Strohm said. “We will pick them up as long as we don’t have to plow.”

Strohm said he’s hoping the leaves can be collected soon.

“We’re hoping to get the street sweeper out after leaf pick-up so we can clean the gutters,” he said.

Strohm also noted that residents can haul leaves from their properties to the village yard-waste site.

The final village leaf pick-up was to be on Nov. 19, but early snows and freezing temperatures put that on hold in Fredonia and other area communities.

Residents are asked to keep leaves away from catch basins and to not mix grass, branches or other yard waste with the leaves.
