Village OKs agreement for assessment services

The Village of Fredonia has signed a new contract for assessment services at a $1,000 annual increase over the previous contract.

The contract with Menomonee Falls-based Grota Appraisals calls for the village to pay $6,600 per year through 2022 in quarterly installments of $1,650. That’s up from $5,500 in the previous contract.

The village’s last revaluation was in 2008.

“We do not feel we need another one for a while, barring anything unforeseen with the market,” Village Clerk Sandi Tretow said, being the village’s assessment ratio is at 100.9% of fair market value.

The state requires a property revaluation when assessed values are not within 10% of the municipality’s total fair market value.

Fair market value is considered to be the probable price a property would bring in a competitive and open market.
