Village Hall is closed

Absentee voting is still being held; other events and entities are affected

Belgium Village Hall, 104 Peter Thein Ave., is closed and public meetings will be postponed until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic, Village Clerk Julie Lesar said Wednesday morning.

In-house absentee voting, however, will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays through April 3. People are asked to request ballots by mail. Visit myvote.wi.gov for information.

Staff is available to answer questions over the phone during normal business hours.

The issue will be evaluated the first week of April, Lesar said.

Other cancellations include:

• The Belgium Area Chamber of Commerce’s job and career fair and Easter egg hunt have been canceled.

• The Luxembourg American Cultural Society Center and Museum is closed through March 31. Staff will be checking emails and phone messages. The May trip to Luxembourg is on and the September tour is still booking.

• The Town of Belgium transfer site at 1215 Jay Rd. is open with normal winter hours of operation, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.

• The Cedar Grove Public Library is closed through April 6. Staff members are available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday for questions. For information, call (920) 668-6834.

• Buechler Farms’ Young Farmer’s Spring Fling on April 4, Hey Y’all it’s Time to Talk Derby event on May 2 and adult prom on May 9 are canceled.

• St. Mark’s Lutheran Church will have services for as many as nine people at 10 a.m. Wednesdays, 7 p.m. Thursdays and 9 a.m. Sundays. Communion will be distributed. Parishioners must call to reserve their spot. The church may add more services. To reserve a spot, call 285-3820 or the Rev. Wayne King at (414) 429-5962.

• The Chamber’s first Summer Nights Live event scheduled for May 29 is scheduled to go on as planned with music and food.
