Youngsters will have the chance to visit Santa in Port Washington’s Upper Lake Park on three Saturdays in December.

Due to the coronavirus, youngsters won’t be able to sit on Santa’s lap. Santa will be in an eight-foot snowglobe, and youngsters will be able to pose with him and give him high fives.

Visual Image Photography of Cedarburg will take photos of the youngsters that families can download and print.

The photos will be available within a week of the visit.

The park will be prepared for the event with lights, music and decorations.

While youngsters won’t be able to tell Santa what’s on their gift lists, they will be able to drop off letters to him at a special mailbox at the park.

Hot chocolate will be sold from 4 to 7 p.m. each Saturday.

Santa will be at the park on Dec. 5, 12 and 19.

Families need to register for a time slot — at 4:30 p.m., 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m. or 6 p.m. A limited number of people will be accepted for each time period.

There is no fee, but donations will be accepted.

While plans are progressing for the visits with Santa, Port Main Street Inc. has canceled plans for a holiday light show this year.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances and measures beyond our control, Light Up the Night is being postponed to 2021,” Port Main Street Inc. announced last week.

“We are extremely disappointed and are diligently working out a plan of action to ensure its success for next year.”
