OED offers tips for working at home

Ozaukee Economic Development is offering tips for people who are balancing work and daily life while working remotely from home due to the coronavirus outbreak.

In the agency’s most recent blog post, OED Marketing and Education Coordinator Lorli Woitas suggests people develop a daily routine that is coordinated around the schedules of co-workers who may be working in different time zones. She also suggests setting an alarm to take lunch and coffee breaks.

Woitas recommends creating a work station designated solely for work and setting boundaries between family members who may be home from school or their job.

She also suggests having a conversation with family members to set times for work and placing a sign on a door to let others know not to disturb you.

Most importantly, Woitas said, it is essential to become familiar with the technology an employer may provide to work from home and to make sure you have the necessary internet bandwith for video conferencing.
