Mountain biking team has best turnout of season

The Ozaukee Composite mountain biking team had its highest turnout of the season last weekend at Minooka Park in Waukesha.

Sixteen racers participated.

The team scored 1,629 points and finished 16th of 52 Division 2 teams.

The event had more than 800 racers, 150 more than last year.

In the sixth-grade girls’ race, Claire Curtis took 12th and Elly Grosenick was 14th of 25 riders.

In the eighth-grade girls’ race, Reese Kasza-James was 14th and Toni Walters was 21st of 41 riders.

In the freshman girls’ race, Emma Kasza-James took second and Phoebe Bowles was 14th of 19 competitors.

In the junior varsity two girls’ race, Erin Hong was 12th of 26 riders.

In the sixth-grade boys’ race, Harrison Ebbers was ninth and Griffen Sherriff was 41st of 53 riders.

In the seventh-grade boys’ race, Gabe Chandler was 64th of 86 riders.

In the eighth-grade boys’ race, Jacob Serano was 17th, Kaden Kopp was 29th and Max Jacoby, in his first race ever, was 95th of 109 riders.

In the junior varsity two boys’ race, Sam Strohl was 32nd, Lucas McCaman was 37th and Mitchell Teunissen was 39th.

the state championship race is Oct. 27 in Waterloo.
