LETTER: Climate change deniers are the ones led astray by ‘experts’

To Ozaukee Press:

Tom McHugh of Grafton is right. We can’t rely on so-called experts to explain climate change without knowing the answers to his questions: What mechanism or process caused our planet’s climate to change enough to enter into an ice age? What mechanism or process caused our planet’s climate to change enough to melt glaciers?

A so-called expert, Milutin Milanković (1879-1958), a Serbian mathematician, astronomer, climatologist, geophysicist and civil engineer, explained Earth’s long-term climate changes by observing the position of Earth relative to the sun. This is referred to as Milankovitch cycles: eccentricity of Earth’s orbit around the sun, axial tilt and precession (wobble as Earth spins). These three naturally occurring cycles nicely account for climate change through millions of years.

Currently, the cycles predict that we should be at the beginning of a cooling period. But wait! We’re not. To know why, measure the increase of CO2 from the start of the Industrial Revolution in 1760.

Would-be climate change deniers must not be led astray by such so-called experts as Newton, Einstein, Feynman, Descartes, Galileo, Hubble, Pauling, Boyle, Carson, Cousteau, Leakey, Freud, Mead, Mendel, Darwin and Pasteur.
