Food Truck Fest, movie night is Friday in Port

The inaugural Port Washington Food Truck Festival will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, in Veterans Park.
The festival, sponsored by Port Main Street Inc., will be run in conjunction with the Parks and Recreation Department’s Friday Night Flicks.
“The Incredibles 2” will be shown in the park bandshell at dusk.
Main Street Executive Director Melissa Alexander said there will be five area food trucks at the park offering everything from tacos to crepes, barbecue to chicken.
Vendors will also sell ice cream and coffee, she said, and a beer tent will be at the park.
“We wanted to make sure we had an array of things so everyone could find something they like,” Alexander said. “We’re hoping to create a night out for the whole family.”
Families are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for the movie.
Alexander said she hopes Friday’s event will be the first of many collaborations between Main Street and the Parks and Recreation Department.
“We’re hoping to partner with Parks and Rec in the future to enhance the programming for families,” she said.
