The Village of Saukville recently awarded a contract to a Milwaukee firm to improve facilities at Grady and Quade parks, including basketball and tennis courts.

Milwaukee-based Frank Armstrong Paving was the low bidder on the project at $185,535, which was $18,225 less than the next-lowest bid of $203,760 submitted by Munson Inc., of Glendale.

Work will also include upgrading the batting cages at Grady Park.

The budget for the work includes borrowing $175,000 plus a $85,900 Land and Water Conservation Fund grant, which requires a 50% village match.

Under rules of the grant, work must be completed by Dec. 31, 2021.

“There will be funds left that we can use for additional park projects,” Village Public Works Director Ray deBruijn told trustees in a memo.
