Donald Blakeslee


Donald J. Blakeslee, 90, of Port Washington died Saturday, June 29, at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton.

He was born in Milwaukee on May 24, 1929, and was raised by his grandmother Nora Blakeslee in the Baraboo area.

On May 22, 1948, he married Arlene Davis. The couple moved to Port Washington after they retired in the early 1990s. Mrs. Blakeslee died in April 2008.    

For more than 40 years, Mr. Blakeslee was a dairy worker for Golden Guernsey Dairy in Waukesha.

His family said Mr. Blakeslee was an avid pilot and roller skater who enjoyed music and animals and had a special interest in ancient religions.

He was also a regular customer at Culver’s, Tello’s Grill & Café and the former Harry’s restaurant in Port Washington.

Mr. Blakeslee was a member of the Masons for more than 60 years and was active in the Knights Templar, Commandry and Council.

Mr. Blakeslee is survived by his children Scott (Colleen) of Jackson and Kari (Kirt Knutsen) Stelzl of Port Washington and grandson Jacob Stelzl.  

He was preceded in death by his wife Arlene and grandmother Nora Blakeslee.

A Masonic service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, at Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday from 4 p.m. until the service.

Interment will be at Fairfield Cemetery in Baraboo at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 9.

Memorials to the Knights Templar Eye Foundation are suggested.
