Developing new business leaders is goal of 8-week collaborative course PDF Print E-mail

Local business groups are teaming with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to offer an eight-part leadership training program called L.O.N.G. (Leaders for Ozaukee’s Next Generation).

The collaborative program is being organized by the UW-Extension, Ozaukee Economic Development and the county’s Chambers of commerce.

L.O.N.G. sessions will be held at sites throughout the county on the third Wednesday of the month starting in September. The program commitment is approximately 40 hours, covering classroom time and individual project work.

Topics and the dates they will be offered are: Sept. 19, Strategic Leadership: Becoming the Steward; Oct. 17, Effective Communication: Diplomacy Skills; Nov. 14, Diversity Training: Listening to the Generations; Jan. 16, Organizational Development: Being an Agent of Change; Feb. 20, Presentation Skills: Public Speaking and PowerPoint; March 20, Financial Statements: Building a Numbers-based Strategy; April 17, Community Partnerships: The Golden Rule of Business; May 15, Volunteering: Public and Private Options: and Aug. 21, Capstone Project Presentation and Graduation.

Participants who complete the course will receive a UWM School of Continuing Education Leadership professional certificate.

The cost is $295 for Chamber members, and $395 for non-members.
