After weeks of subcommittee meetings, the Village of Belgium will hold its annual public hearing on the 2017 budget Monday night.

The levy is slated to be $845,463, a 2.87% increase from last year.

Garbage collection fees will not be increased by the usual 3% as a trade-off for changing the collection day to Friday.

The sewer rate is slated to increase by 2% to cover the difference between revenues and expenditures.

The public hearing begins at 6:45 p.m. at Village Hall, 104 Peter Thein Ave. The Village Board may approve the budget at a meeting immediately afterward.

Village Hall will be closed Friday, Dec. 2, due to the presidential election recount.
